I bought this controller to use in 2D games on my Switch as the first Switch Pro controller wasn't designed to be very retro. While the D-Pad is everything I could wish for, be aware that the ergonomics around the shoulder buttons aren't ideal for a console. The bottom triggers are analog, which is a nice feature for PC gaming but ultimately has a tactile downside since the Switch, a console designed around the digital ZL/ZR, has different resistance and movement distances. Most frustrating, however, is the discomfort of reaching the upper left and right bumpers, which are designed precisely to match the SNES controller's bumpers, but are uncomfortable and unnaturally accessible with that controller's ergonomics. Since most retro games on the Switch default to showing the top shoulder buttons, this makes the SN30 Pro+ an extremely cumbersome retro solution for the Switch. (Even with custom button mappings, the ZL/ZR still aren't great for retro gaming since they're analog.) Also, the screenshot button is also a turbo switch, so if you try to take a screenshot, that button toggles it into turbo mode. , which in many cases will disrupt gameplay unless a conscious effort is made to avoid it. The SN30 Pro+ has good build quality, good buttons and is generally a fantastic example of a satisfactory third-party controller, but unfortunately it falls short in terms of its main selling point/desirability.
