Review on JBL Live Free NC Plus - True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancelling, Bluetooth, Microphone, Up to 21 Hours Battery Life, Wireless Charging (Blue) by Tina Williams

At this price… Just ok

The obvious comparison here is to the Apple Airpods we have and I'll be honest if you have and use Apple products especially the phone, you will want to spend a little more and purchase them for convenience and better sound quality. Also, I'm not a music lover, but I liked these JBL Bluetooth in-ear headphones, although they're more muted than my Airpods and the sound gets a bit tinny with active noise cancellation, so they really can't compete with my Apple Airpods Pro. They come in a charging case and can be charged wirelessly on any QI-enabled pad or via the included bright orange USB-C cable; I suppose I can easily identify and not forget in a coffee shop, hotel, at your desk etc. My phone had no problem finding them via Bluetooth, although it took my (Apple) laptop a few tries to do the same. . Once paired, they start streaming sound as soon as you take them out of their case, often before you put them in your ear. Admit it, I haven't used them to make or take calls, but they do. Battery life was good, although the noise-cancellation feature drains it fairly quickly. They are very small and come with three sizes of soft ear tips. They fit your ear much better than Airpods, but somehow feel less stable? I admit it might just be that I'm not used to them because I remember Airpods being shaky when I first got them and now I run them with no issues. I will say that even without the noise cancellation turned on, JBL isolates you more from the outside world, which can be good in some situations but can be dangerous in situations like outdoor exercise. If it was half the price of an Apple product it would definitely be spoofing, I could see the value but as close as they are these days it's hard to see why you're getting these JBL pods instead of a more established brand.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
