Not sure what it's made of
I've had a lot of natural sponges (and yes, a few artificial ones) in my life and this spindle just didn't feel natural. It's prickly, like an artificial product. It does not react with water like a natural sponge. I wanted it to be natural. I was so worried while waiting for the delivery. Will I order it again? no I'm sure it's not man made? NO! Am I enjoying it compared to my past experience with natural sponges? no
