Not suitable for drinking water

Sold for use with reverse osmosis water filters. The problem is that the plastic plugs that come with them say "Shitong". and established "Yuyao Shitong Peeled Water Pipe Factory" in Zhejiang, China. They are made of POM, Polyoxymethylene (POM) also known as Acetal, Polyacetal and Polyformaldehyde. It is not water or food safe and does not meet NSF-51 or NSF-61 code approvals. If you bought these pieces individually they include a California cancer warning on a pack of 65. I checked the Lowes and Home Depot versions of these fittings which were BrassCraft and SharkBite and they also have that cancer warning on the packaging. is the standard for "Plastic Materials and Components Used in Food Processing Equipment" and refers to materials and products that are used in contact with food and beverages. Fittings and piping for reverse osmosis systems are made of polypropylene. If you search "John Guest Polypropylene" on Amazon, you should find it. If you're still considering buying this, the included tee is 3/8" and the iSpring water filtration system I use has 1/4" plumbing. So I had to buy a separate T. Wrap the metal end of the gauge with about 14 turns of Teflon tape to prevent leakage.

Pros
  • Gauge diameter: 2 inches
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
