Review on πŸ–₯️ Manhattan Hi-Speed USB 3.5-Inch Bay Mount 60-in-1 Multi-Card Reader/Writer, Black (100915) - Fast and Convenient Memory Card Access by James Lighting

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works with some mods

After using it for a while I feel obliged to make sure people get a reasonable estimate. First, as another reviewer said, USB really isn't good for fast charging of most devices. I wanted something to fill the empty 3.5" slot instead of using an external card reader. I have enough USB ports so it's not a big problem. For the price you really shouldn't expect anything durable or even built to last the life of your PC, you can tell by how lightweight it is. You really need some sort of glue or other fastener to keep the rear cable that powers the device from getting disconnected. It's fairly rigid, but the plastic on the case is very thin. The problem I had was that the mounting screw holes were rubbish. The whole thing is so small you'll be lucky if you get 1 set of screws to hold it. But even then, the screw holes didn't line up in any way to keep the reader flush with the front of my Rosewill Gaming ATX Mid Tower CHALLENGER-U3 Black computer case. I had to take some of my own screws and drill new holes in the reader case to get it right and still there is only room for one screw to attach. I mentioned how small this thing is, right? Bare bones may be more appropriate. Yes, the green light is bright and always on even when the PC isn't there, but that's easy to manage. By default, this thing makes 5 new drive letters, as far as that matters. Having to change this is frustrating and really makes me lean towards a lower rating. All the reads I've tried and I've tried a lot work fine. I could post a few pics, but the speed of some of my cards has never been limited by hardware, meaning this thing reads everything right out of the box. If it takes a year or a move I can change my estimate but as it stands it works and is inexpensive. It takes some effort to install and I just can't get over how thin and tiny it really is. Make sure you have a USB slot on your motherboard, it should be right? 3.5 stars from 06/11/14
