Good monitor for the price; Too bad there wasn't a case for 3D printing

This review is about the HAMTYSAN 7 inch portable monitor for Raspberry Pi. Just to get it straight out of the gate, I was able to get it working on my PC and as advertised it is an 800x480 monitor. I had already forgotten how unusable that resolution was. I've seen something like this useful as a CyberDeck, smart home monitor, or picture frame. However, I wouldn't want to try it day in and day out for an extended period of time. They come with an HDMI cable and power cord which are nice along with a very cheap plastic stand to keep the monitor powered on. . As shown in the product photos, the back of this monitor is a bare circuit board. For those with a 3D printer and some drawing skills the case could certainly be printed, but it would be nice if the manufacturer provided an STL file for manufacturers or offered the case for sale along with the display. The mounting holes on the back are unthreaded and don't really have the ability to cut anything into them, which really limits their usefulness. Also, there are two strange "bulges/tabs" at the bottom of the screen. My guess is that these screens were made for a cheap tablet and that the tabs were used to attach the monitor to the injection molded case that the tablet was meant to use. Unfortunately, it's on the underside, making using the plastic stand a little more awkward, combined with surface-mount components on the back doesn't inspire long-term use that way. There are also no controls to flip the screen upside down, although most video drivers have this feature in software. The display is natively 800x480 but can be upscaled to 1920x1080 but becomes totally unusable in my opinion, I think it's more of a marketing gimmick than advertising "HD compatible". I'm not sure I would have bought this if I didn't have a specific project and the skills to 3D print a decent case for it. At the time of writing this review I haven't found anything in the usual places to find open source STL files to print.
