Bought for use in the Gameboy Zero project. I got "option 7" in the sudomod wiki. I removed the voltage regulator IC by snipping off the legs with pliers and soldering a small wire between the voltage input pad and the regulator's output pin 2 on the board because I wanted to supply it with 5V directly. Some manuals suggest this isn't necessary, but I noticed that leaving the regulator on caused the input voltage to drop from 5V to 4.7V and the screen to flicker. Works great, good clear picture with no flicker. It works fine without the input button board connected. So if you don't have space for it, don't worry about leaving it. I removed the control board and was hoping to move it around, but the ribbon cable is very finicky, if it's not bent and angled properly you will get weird colors and flickering on the screen so I'd suggest leaving it connected . how it is.
