Review on Ruaeoda 2 Pack SSD Mounting Bracket Adapter - 2.5" to 3.5", HDD SSD Tray Holder, Metal Mounting Bracket Adapter for PC SSD, Hard Disk Drive Bays by Adam Bates

Well made and inexpensive, but currently not compatible with all computers.

These adapter brackets are made of stamped steel and have well-placed holes to fit in place of a standard 3.5" drive. Unfortunately, as with many other adapters, the threaded holes do not have the same threads as the #6-32 UNC screws that are standard for mounting 3.5" drives. This is only a problem if you're trying to install this adapter using the special screws that came with your computer, which act as locking pins to hold the drive in place. I was able to recut the holes to use this mount in a micro desktop computer that used proprietary mounting screws. Another problem I ran into was that the power cord and SATA cable don't plug in in the same place as they normally would for a 3.5 drive, as these brackets support the 2.5 Center inch drive in the middle. This was a problem on the computer I installed it on as the cables were routed through a narrow hole in the computer case. I was able to get it to work with another cable routed incorrectly. All in all these are well made adapters and with two modifications from the manufacturer they would be perfect. To the manufacturer: 1. In addition to the centrally located 2.5" drive mounting holes, which are great for better cooling of the drive, add 4 more holes to attach the 2.5" drive connectors there position where they would normally be on drive 3, 5.2. Push the mounting screw from 6 sides to accept #6-32 UNC screws such as a standard 3.5 disc.
