Review on PetSafe Manners Minder Remote Trainer by Lori Stein

Works perfectly. in Dogs

Car runs great. The How It Works section of the manual was a bit difficult/confusing to understand and required several re-reads. I remember terminology and dialogue as a problem. The machine comes with two discs, one with smaller holes and the other with larger holes. You set up a disc with holes larger than the size of the treat you're using. There was a short list of treats on offer to give you an idea of the type and size. We had a rather strange problem. We used treats from "Zuke's Mini's". They worked great in the car from the end of day one. The next day the disc was stuck, stressing the machine and not distributing it. Somehow they swelled at night. I think it was probably the humidity in the air, but the weather wasn't muggy. I replaced the disc with one with larger holes and that fixed the problem. Since the treats seem to have the ability to change size, I suggest not using the smaller disc. If the treat is roughly the same size as the holes in that disk, use the larger disk. If the treat is about the same size as the holes in the larger disc, do not use that treat and find another treat. I'm by no means saying the machine is picky about the goodies that work within it. It is not. You only need to buy treats that are obviously smaller than the holes in either disc, and I would add don't buy treats that are boring. holes. Two things you need before the car arrives. Treats and Batteries -Zuke's Mini works great with a large drive -Four (4) D size batteries. Machine comes with a battery for the remote control. So I would avoid Duracell batteries as they are known to leak. I can't stand that Energizer Bunny. Ray-O-Vac makes good batteries. The volume of the signal tone that the machine emits when dosing is adjustable and can also be switched off. This sound scared my dog so I turned it off because he was scared of the sound of the car too. I let him get used to the car first and then turned it down to its lowest volume so he could hear it from other rooms. Everything went well, but remember that the car is useless if your dog is afraid of it. Take it easy and don't make your dog love it. Give your dog the time and space he needs.
