Review on Cutting-Edge Gray DJI Mavic Pro Quadcopter: Ultimate Aerial Excellence! by Jnis Hermanis ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was surprised by the quality for this price.

And yet, despite the above shortcomings, the Mavic is an awesome quadcopter! You can list the pros and cons for a long time, but in short, this quadcopter is simply CONVENIENT. That is, you can take it in a small bag, quickly get it out of there and prepare it for take-off without straining, and after the flight you can just as quickly and effortlessly remove everything. I strongly recommend that you immediately buy attachments for antenna-legs that allow you to raise the Mavic so that it does not vacuum the take-off and landing area, as well as a plastic cap-protection for suspension. I do not recommend flying with the transparent cap that comes with the kit, since it not only spoils the picture for the camera, but it almost completely blocks the access of air to the air intake. And I recommend extremely careful use of automatic pursuit modes and others - this is a sure way to lose the quadcopter. As for phones, I don’t know why many had problems, I managed to connect both the iPhone 5S and Xiaomi Redmi 3 without any problems, the DJI GO 4 application, which is on the first, which works flawlessly on the second. The installation proceeded according to the scenario "installed the application - connected the phone to the remote control - saw the image from the quadrocopter".

Pros
  • 1. Compactness. In fact, this was the decisive factor in the choice. A set of a quadcopter, remote control, charger and all sorts of bells and whistles such as extra legs and camera protection - everything is put away in a case measuring 30x22x10cm. If you take a quadric separately in order to control it from your phone, you can put it in any bag or even the inside pocket of your jacket. 2. Positioning in space: the expression "hanging as if nailed down" is more than appropriate here. For the sake of the experiment, it took off in a strong wind from a place of 500 meters and then descended, while the horizontal deviation from the take-off point was no more than 20 cm. 3. Clear video shooting, true 4K, even with strong shaking, perfect gimbal stabilization. 4. Sensors: optical front (estimate the distance to the obstacle in front) and below (optical and sound, allow you to hover over the surface and "recognize" the landing site) 5. Compact, lightweight and convenient remote control, with telemetry output to the remote control screen, that is, you can run the quadcopter without a phone at all (but why? ). 6. Gesture control is possible (but I would not advise using these options) 7. Having all the advantages of other drones from DJI: ease of control, accessible even to children (my nine-year-old son mastered control from the first flight), perfectly realized flight with control from the first person, video signal transmission over a distance of several kilometers, many useful return type settings home if the signal is lost.
Cons
  • 1. Too light to resist strong winds. Unlike Phantoms, Mavic can suddenly stop moving in one of the directions. From the remote control, the wind is not visible, it just stops moving in one direction. Therefore, you need to be very careful with the timing of the return, to make sure that there will not be a strong headwind during the return. 2. The horizon collapses. At first I thought that it was my quadric that had some kind of breakdown, but after reading the reviews, it turned out that all Mavics have this problem. During the flight, the horizon can level out, and then fall back down by a degree or two. In the application settings, you can set the horizon forcibly. 3. The quality of shooting at night is quite consistent with the 1 / 2.3 "matrix: very strong noise. Therefore, you should not expect night photos the same as from the fourth Phantom. 4. The design of the suspension is sooooo flimsy! At first, it was very scary for her, although over time I got used to it and stopped paying attention to it. 5. Very low rise. It practically sits on the belly. Therefore, it is not recommended to take off and land on the sand, since there is an air intake behind the camera, and the quadric will work like a vacuum cleaner at the moment. 6. Never in any case trust the automatic modes of controlling a quadrocopter such as Pursuit and others - the Mavic has sensors only in front and below, and in automatic modes it can easily fly sideways and backwards - and God forbid that there was nothing there! 7. Yes, and those sensors that are in front do not see much. Well, that is, they will see a wall or a tree trunk, but they cannot see thin branches without leaves, or wires. 8. After enabling Simulator Mode in the DJI GO 4 app, it will most likely ask you to verify your Chinese phone (Phone Link). Treated by deleting files DJI/dji. Go. V4/log/CACHE/verphone
