I had about 300GB less than 4TB but that's to be expected. It's small and compact, but bigger than my 1TB. For comparison, they all have the same dimensions as Seagate's 1TB laptops, but in terms of volume, they're about the same as stacking 2 of 1TB to compare this 4TB product. My opinion is that it's fast enough for a HDD, but draws a lot more power than I expected as the 1 desktop in my house model (2013) sometimes drops it. Read online that for such a large amount of memory it takes a lot because it is USB powered. Not noisy and starts up quickly. I also recommend formatting it before putting anything on it. There were a few registration issues, but overall I used it for video from my GoPro and it took about 1 hour to transfer 1TB of video from my computer and 1TB from Seagate. Also, I don't take it anywhere and just leave it on my desk. So I don't know how it works if you work overtime.
