UPDATE: I've been wearing these shoes every day since I added the arch support. My ankles don't roll and they are very comfortable. I wanted to update this and give another star because I am very happy with this shoe! My feet are a bit different as I've had a lot of knee and back surgeries so I've had to try a lot of shoes that ended up not being comfortable or safe for me. I took the risk of ordering these shoes. They looked like they were offering support and were comfortable. I typically pay $160 for a pair of shoes to wear. So if I could wear them, that would be the thing. They are mesh on top and the sole is firmly attached. The velcro is long and secure. The description says there is arch support. I would say he has very light support. It's not enough that I can wear these shoes as they are. My legs pull inward when I walk in them. This is not a shoe defect but the result of my surgeries. However, I found a way to wear them now. I had insoles that I pulled out of a pair of shoes with perfect arch support. I use them in many of my boots and they fit these boots like they were made for them. I can't wear it on long walks because it still rolls a bit, but I can wear it around the house or when I don't plan to walk much. I'm happy to add another pair to my meager shoe stash. They seem a bit wider than the regular 9's, but I don't wear them with socks either. I also have a slim heel but they don't slide down so they fit well there. Despite all the health issues affecting my feet, I am very happy to be able to wear these shoes. For those who don't have foot problems I believe they will be quite comfortable if they are the right size.
