A very close shave if you follow the directions and use small circular motions. For those who are used to shaving in one direction (down) with a regular razor, the difference is really noticeable as the rounded blades cut in all directions. The first two or three weeks were tough. lots of inflammation. But hold on and you will get through it. I tried dry shaving, preshave oils and shaving cream and finally settled on shaving cream - no breakouts. The battery life is excellent - it lasts 2 weeks with a weekday shave and the occasional weekend shave. I would give it 5 stars if it came with a solution for shaping the sideburns - I have to resort to a single blade razor to get sharp sideburns.
