There are many options for backpack water tanks and I have used many of them. Source Hydration is my favorite. The tank is easy to fill and clean. I can easily fill it with ice for long summer activities. They use some kind of magic plastic or process that keeps the water fresh for a long time. I even accidentally left one half full when storing it. When I pulled it out I thought the germs were having a party and stink to the tank. Not so. The water was as fresh as the first day! I really only wash it if I've used electrolyte tablets in it and want to get rid of the taste afterwards. The modular port system they use gives a good range of tank capacity options and features, hose lengths, bite valve types etc. It also makes refilling easy even if the hose runs through your kit/pack. Simply disconnect the hose, remove the reservoir, fill up, replace in your kit and reconnect the hose. I only wish the container was more rigid. I got cancer during an endurance event and tore a hole in my tank. Although it was clearly my fault, Source replaced it for free and shipped it via express mail from Israel.
