Review on Acana Highest Protein Dry Dog Food 🐾 and Crunchy Treats: Grain Free Nutrition for Active Dogs by Janice Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I came looking for copper, but instead I found absolute gold. AFTER ALL!

Excellent dog food. Abundant sources of meat and biologically appropriate meat organs (think wolf ancestors, our dogs may not be phenotypically wolves, but in many ways MOST of their genomic and metabolic preferences are retained). Ingredient #2 or #3 on the ingredients list is itself a claim. More meat followed. Definitely recommended. I used to feed my Shih Tzu canidae Small Breed Raw Coated Salmon; It's also high quality and smells like healthy dog fish food, but the fact that peas and beans are #3 on the restricted ingredients list worries me given the FDA's oversight of grain-free products and DCM (which has since been suspect). culprit) is not an ingredient per se (peas) but a *ratio* of peas as a grain substitute in dog food. With that in mind, *place* on the ingredient list is important, and when I said "lentils , beans" and then on the list of peas, it was a sigh of relief and approval UPDATE: My Shih Tzu absolutely loves this food, up to to the point that some mannerisms (he was always waiting for me to *think* about the food; he would often leave the food in the bowl for a few hours before digging in) just stopped.I have a smart feeder and this food is LONG OLD before I know it I thought the big grits would be a problem but apparently he doesn't care - he swallows it like never before, his stool becoming more firm and like the food is digesting well would be instead of having stains from undigested bits of food I will continue to buy ACANA.
