Solid IPL hair removal tool adds active cooling to scope

Revain is now inundated with IPL devices. These devices promise to reduce/remove hair with high-intensity flashes of light. This is a technology that was initially offered in clinics at a high price but is now also available for affordable home devices. So far I have tried a large number of these IPL devices and I can say that all of these IPL devices work. very similar, with only a few differences separating them. Among the most notable differences:** Is the device just for hair removal, or does it also promise "skin rejuvenation" or acne relief?** Does the device offer an "ice" feature, where the flash head's heat sink reduces the heat on the skin* * Does the device have an LCD display for reading information such as number of flashes remaining, power level, etc.** Is the device itself ergonomically shaped like a pistol or tube, or is it head sized for targeted use on spots like lips?* * How many flashes is the device rated for maximum (most devices are rated for 500,000-1,000,000 flashes, which is a lifetime) and should provide equivalent functionality. It is on the lower end of the mid-range price range and offers a feature (motor cooling) not found in the cheapest units. This IPL device:** Performs hair removal only.** Activates the ICE skin cooling function** LCD screen shows the number of flashes remaining and the power level (1-5)** Wand shaped device - a bit big but not bad Lying in the hand** Power cable attached to the end of the device (see photo)** No attachments to reshape the end of the flash** Designed for approx. 999,999 flashes, 5 power levels. Operation is fairly trivial: 1) Connect the power cord to the IPL device and plug it into a power outlet (the device is NOT battery powered - it must be plugged into the mains). 2) Turn on the device using the power switch on the top of the device. , above the LCD screen. 3) Select the power level to use (you have five levels that you cycle through with a short press of the power button). The level is displayed on the LCD screen. 4) Place the front of the device on the skin you wish to treat and press the flash button (large button above the power button). (You can also put the device in "Auto" mode, where it will flash every time it touches skin. To put it in Auto mode, press and hold the flash button for 3 seconds.) There is a few seconds of refractory time after a boost before you can flare up again. The light is extremely strong and can damage your eyes with prolonged direct exposure. Therefore you should never look directly into the light and cheap folding glasses are included in the scope of delivery. The light is turned on by sensors on the front of the device. With very slow movement I was able to capture the light (see photos). But the duration of the light is very short. Run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair, making sure to uncover all the hair follicles in that area. You won't see instant results. The light signals that your hair has stopped growing, but it takes multiple treatments over several weeks before you see results. Eventually, you should see significant hair reduction in the treated areas. In the box you get a tool, power cord, eye protection goggles, cheap disposable razor and instructions. This tool is rated for approximately 999,999 flashes. (So it should probably take longer than your interest in it). A few words about the "Icy" function, because this list is almost non-existent (like with other IPL devices): Ice function is another term for Localized Epidermal Cooling. "This is referred to by various names in lists, one of the most common being 'ice function' or 'ice cooling'. This is a local cooling of the epidermis (surface of the skin) in the area where the IPL light pulse is applied. Bright light can cause irritation in some people, and cooling the skin in that area can reduce immediate irritation. (This does not improve/reduce the effectiveness of the treatment). This cooling effect is achieved by the Peltier junction semiconductor and a material in the head of the IPL device that conducts heat well (often sapphire or aluminum), which transfers the cold generated by the semiconductor to the skin. (Heat sinks and fans inside the IPL device dissipate heat that is also generated by the Peltier connection.) Cooling of the epidermis is not required for effective use, but may make the device less uncomfortable for some users. Get any attachments that can help you work with specific body areas with this tool. Some IPL removal tools contain them. The actual value of such tools is debatable, and the core functionality (which is a bright flash of light) doesn't change. The markings on the lamp holders are small stickers that can fall off over time. I would have preferred if they had more permanent markings. This IPL device is slightly more expensive than some of Revain's cheapest IPL devices, but adds the "ICE" cooling feature that many people find essential. If you're one of them, this would be a solid choice that optimizes cost versus features.
