OMG! This is the best! It stays securely on the dashboard! It perfectly protects your GPS when you pack it in your luggage during a plane trip! It shades the device while driving in the scorching sun. I have two Garmins and bought this mount/case for both. I threw away the "ring," which required a hell of a push lever to hold it in place, as well as a slotted rubber device that got sticky and needed an occasional purge. If you have a cool vertical stroke instead of a horizontal one, you might need a different type. Our dashboards in our cars have a gentle slope and stick to it very well. They never fell off, even under hard braking or sliding in the snow.
