There's no real padding, so you can feel the hard plastic under the fur, but that doesn't really bother me as I didn't buy it for a small child to play with, but to give 'communion' to someone who is in a nursing home. who can't have animals, but desperately wants a dog. I liked the fact that it comes with its own sleeping pad, sleeping pad and brush. It was perfect for what I needed it for, I just wish it had an on/off switch so I could turn it off at night to save some battery life.
