The backlight only works via USB, no microphone

Headphones arrived safely, packaging undamaged. However, after opening it, I noticed that the microphone is missing, there is a hole where it should be. There are 2 USB ports and 3.5 AUX. The LEDs only work when connected via USB. There are no instructions, I connected the phone to AUX, turned the volume all the way up and heard nothing. I connected it to my laptop and it works fine via USB. So I think AuX is broken. I have requested a refund.
