I mounted them on my road bike so I can't comment on their bottle holding up on very rough terrain but I haven't lost a single bottle on the road. Inserting and removing bottles is very easy. I use large bottles of camelbak and had to heat and bend the top tab, but I have a hair dryer and that wasn't a problem for me. However, without this modification, this bar will not line up with the narrow part of the tall bottles and will push the bottles slightly outwards. I blame Camelbak because all my bottle cages have a problem with tall bottles. The narrow part of this bottle should be in the same place on the bottom as the shorter ones.
