These large bowls are perfect for soups. I mostly got them because we order a lot of pho and the container they send almost overflows after all the items have been added to the broth. I started using my own mixing bowls but they are stainless steel and the soup heats the bowl making it difficult to move without burning your hands. I really like the muted colors of these bowls and after trying them I can say they go with anything you would use the bowl for if you need a large batch as long as it's not oily. I washed my hands after drinking a bowl of pho and even after two cycles of soap they felt like they were still oily from the broth. For that reason alone I will be returning them. I would recommend them for families with children because they appear strong and durable.
