Update: GE has updated their app! As of May (huh?) 2021 it's now called "Cync". Haven't used it too much yet, but I've set everything up and played around with it to test everything. I got it working. And now I can add my lights to my Google Home - finally! During my test run, everything worked great, including Google Home. The app has really bad reviews so I'm not sure if I'm just lucky. I'll still use my remote as I only have one lightbulb (using 3 GE bulbs) so I still think it's usually easier than asking google. Original Review: I paired these bulbs with a GE remote so I didn't have to go through the whole process of unlocking my phone, launching the app, and then finding a place in the app to set the bulbs - it's all only for dimming/brightening/switching light on/off. These two together work fantastic for me. There is no lamp noise and they dim/brighten perfectly with multiple settings between the brightest and the lowest light. I've seen a lot of complaints about the app and had some trouble installing some lightbulbs, but luckily the app fixed everything. quickly. I've been using it for about a month now, so using it with the remote once the installation was complete was perfect.
