I have used this on home rods (weight 10-15lbs per side) as a sturdier replacement for the elastics I have used before and have had no problems. The diameter was exactly as described and the clamps held without loosening after several dozen lifts. Of course I keep the bar at ground level most of the time, the latches haven't shifted noticeably after a lot of pushing over the past few weeks.
