Fan weighs only 15 pounds but requires a 50 pound control box built into the ceiling. This is due to the fact that the fan does not "rock" when turned on - it works quietly, does not scratch or make other noises. We installed a fan where there was little light before, so we had to replace the box. This was the most problematic part of the installation. The actual installation of the fan was pretty easy. We installed the fan for a couple of weeks. The app works great and so does the remote control. I had to get into the habit of not flipping the switch because that would turn the light on and off, but the fan stays off when we use the switch. I couldn't turn off the light - which is very strange since both the remote control and the application have a button with a lightbulb to turn the light on and off. There is a slider to adjust the brightness of the light, using the slider will only reduce the brightness to 10% and that might confuse people, but there is an on/off switch which seems pretty obvious to me and just awesome is working. I love how you can adjust the brightness and tone of the light and it's a much prettier fan than most you see for sale.
