I purchased this tool after seeing rave reviews online. The idea is good, but the poor quality of this tool does not benefit Alex Anderson. There were nicks on the stiletto that I had to file down to keep it from snagging on fabric and thread, and because the stiletto is short, the thickness of the wood makes it awkward under the sewing machine foot if you need to use it for sweeping. Thread from below The seam ripper is dull and has to be driven almost into the fabric to get under the thread - my 99 cent ripper is easier and quicker to use; Maybe more file work would help. The caps stay on unlike some and are fairly tight for arthritic hands as others have reported but it's better than the caps falling off. The wood is well polished, which gives the instrument a third star. Overall it's a disappointment and I wouldn't recommend it as a replacement for your fine sewing tools, but it will work in a travel backpack where space is a big deal.
