Not all tracing paper can be used as a light table!

While trying to archive family photos I was looking for something that could be used as a light table for viewing negatives and slides. (Pressing the leaves against the trash can's white lid quickly became tedious.) The first model I ordered said 'Agptek' in the picture, but what I got was basically a black panel marked with in LEDs arranged in a grid. The "touch button" was touch sensitive (yes!) so it was easy to toggle on and off when in use. The big problem is that while it could be useful for highlighting a blank sheet of paper, it was *useless* when trying to view negatives and slides. (An even bigger problem: I bought an "open box" that came with an oddly crumpled top tape, and the solid white underside had what appeared to be a hole, and when switched on, the overheating showed why. ) But still useless. for my purposes. I read in some posts that they mistook this device for a "genuine" Agptek. Never heard of it but bought one (this one) for about $7 more than the other one listed. It's day and night (literally). This device has real buttons (which I think will fail one day) that don't respond to unintentional touches, e.g. B. when using a magnifying glass. The brightness varies from comfortably low (in the picture) to very high (although I've seen some underexposed shots before) and by holding the buttons you can gradually increase or decrease the brightness. But the most important feature (as you can see in the picture) is the actual "illuminated surface" and not the light group; the surface is evenly illuminated from edge to edge. This is very important when trying to read a small number or looking closely at an image. At full brightness the device got a little warm after a while, but after a month of intensive use (I had over 400 sheets) it didn't overheat. I usually plug it into an existing micro USB charging cable that I need to use as a phone, and also plug it into a battery pack to charge phones (can't tell how long this will last though). All in all, it made my job a lot easier. It is very small and light and fits in my laptop bag for the trip home. This made my filing task a lot easier and looks a lot better than the LED matrix type, even for tracking (I compared it to my sister). It wasn't worth the $7 savings. I would recommend this Agptek to anyone. It was the best return on investment in this project!
