My battery is broken

I have nine batteries and three chargers. I decided to try something solar powered just to see if it got any better in the last 15 years. So I spent $50 to charge a $25 lawnmower battery that would normally last two years with minimal effort to keep it in decent condition. The battery started the tractor on the first try last week so I knew everything was fine. I connected this solar light. Put in a sunny place. Checking the voltage at the battery terminals before connecting showed 13.6V, both on the display and on my multimeter. The voltage dropped to 12.4V-12.5V when connected. I checked the current, about 0.9A. I thought everything was fine. It had been charging for an hour when I noticed the clouds were covering the sun. Went outside just to check. The display shows 4.xx V. Bring my multimeter. Yes, totally screwed up. Plug in my Battery MINDer. Writes that the battery is dead. Now I have to return that junk and get a new battery, which I hate at the end of the season. It was an opportunity to try my DBPOWER starter. Started on first try. At least it worked. I hope this helps me get through spring and it also came in handy to charge my phone a few times when the outlet was off. So thumbs down for solar scrap, thumbs up for Battery MINDer and DBPOWER. At least for now.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Useless functions
