I purchased this item for my rook piercing - originally 16g, 10mm and it was a bit large and uncomfortable. Then I bought it in 18g 8mm which was much better. However, due to the shape of this product, I have a lot of trouble sleeping on my side. I will say that the quality of the product is excellent. No tarnishing or wear of the metal. I can also easily take it out and put it in myself, although the rook piercing is hard to see on myself. I would say if you sleep on your side maybe buy a different shaped ring for a rook or a different ear piercing. And if not, then that sure is a cute earring.
