I had high hopes for the Yamaha but they just don't work for me. My head is probably too wide and I can't stand the sweaty ears from the leather ear pads. I find that temperature/sweating can be dealt with by adding plain moleskin leather to the pads. Can improve comfort. But after unpacking they are very painful for me after wearing them for about an hour. They're not heavy at all for me, they just pinch my ears. In fact, they feel comfortable at first. They are not common for headphones for me, so not surprised and still disappointed. I didn't buy it for music, but for film/TV sound, but the sound is simply fantastic with the ATMOS audio stream or one of the more lossy variants. My sources are an ATMOS enabled MS Surface Book 3 and a 55" Hisense H9G TV. They are mainly needed to play movies at a sufficient volume to get more of the 3D sound experience we have these days. They perform well Work by letting the software create that illusion.Bass isn't too loud and on some systems can be controlled so as not to drown out vocals/dialogue.This is a good option for what I wanted until my ears started too painful. not enough. I don't think they block as much noise as the Sony 1004s, but they're pretty damn close. I actually prefer a little noise when something needs attention. Bluetooth range is great, way more than 30 Foot in my intended use I can walk down the street and listen to something I haven't tried them on phone calls yet as I don't get them for more than 20 hours in the 40 days I have protrude. The battery life is actually very good. I forgot to turn them off after removing them but got 25-30 hours total. I would go back, but health issues bothered me and I couldn't put them back in time. I hope Moleskin salvages this purchase.
