Review on Walker 53479 Front Pipe by Brian Lee

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Perfect fit for Jeep YJ 95

Walker Front Exhaust Pipe 53479 fits my '95 Jeep YJ 4 Cylinder perfectly. At first I was concerned because it doesn't look like it does on the Revain website, it has creases around the curves and isn't smooth. I won't be racing my 26 year old YJ so full throttle power isn't that important even if I lose a horsepower or two. Another difference is that the hook is welded on the top instead of the bottom, which can be a good thing as water tends to pool on the bottom where my old hanger failed. Carefully examined, all seams are clean, not burned out. Taking off one star for the wrinkled curves, but other than that it's perfect as an OEM. The old front pipe could also be easily removed from the manifold flange. A bolt burst during launch even after being soaked with PB blaster for 24 hours. No problem - soaked both ends of a broken manifold flange bolt for a day, then heated with a blue propane lamp for a few minutes the next day, soaked again with a PB blaster, hit twice with a short 4" hammer. and the third time just popped out without a hard hit. The bolts are pressed in like wheel bolts. I replaced the 2" 3/8-16 stainless steel bolt and nut. I preinstalled the O2 and catalytic converter and everything snapped into place and fell easily without lifting the car, only the passenger side wheels worked on the curb on the road.
