The rice cooker comes with all components in a nice packaging. After washing and assembling all the components, I prepared a small pot of jasmine rice. My first problem: The instructions are poorly written. The actual proportions of uncooked rice to water are not clearly written. The measuring lines in the socket reproduced in the booklet are of little help. I'll probably have to cook and throw away up to three pots of rice to figure out for myself what the proportions of each type of rice I use should be. It was impossible to guess my first batch of basmati: a sodden mass of inedible slime. REGISTER EVERY ATTEMPT so you end up with a set of proportions you like. Other Toshiba have good manuals. I ask Toshiba for one for this product - written in correct English, with exact proportions in each recipe. SECOND NOTE: I was able to find an excellent (to my taste) formula for Japanese NISHIKI rice. Just add as much dry rice as you like (I like 1/2 cup) and then 1.33 times as much water. It turns out beautifully, without complications. My next try will be SAM's ROYAL Basmati Rice.
