Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great table if.

I work backwards. My new black table is attractive and much more comfortable than the large, sturdy table I had before. The size of this table is just right; I'm 5ft 6in and the table height is perfect for me. The size of the entire table is optimal for a small room. If that was the whole story I would give the table 5 stars. The reason I gave a (generous) 4 star rating is the sheer difficulty of assembling the table. The parts of the table come with Alan's wrench and a flathead screwdriver. Why a flathead screwdriver, no idea, because there's no point as I've never used it with a wrench and kept trying to screw the screws in criss-cross. After a few hours of struggling with the screws that didn't work, and in utter desperation, I posted a question to Revane asking for help. The kind soul was quick to respond and informed me that the flat end of the wrench (which looked like part of a handle rather than a screwdriver) was the end to use. IMPRESSIVE. Epiphany! Okay, then I was able to screw the parts together pretty easily. apart from the need to make contortions to work in various very difficult and badly planned places. But I twisted almost the entire table and got to the final step, screwing on the keyboard tray. That's when I realized the diagram on my instruction sheet was backwards. Right: back. No time to cry, carry on. When I had the whole table disassembled and neatly reassembled, I seriously considered hiring myself to get paid to assemble the furniture. I was very good at everything when it came to assembling the table for the second time. Terribly frustrating? Yes. But, okay, these things happen, and I've learned a lot by pushing forward with determination. I was traveling, and then I screwed in a screw - and split the sheet of plywood or whatever the table is a little along the length of the screw. I was annoyed. Actually I was angry. I didn't turn it all the way, but the wood cracked. I also noticed that the surface of the table scratches very easily. At that moment I decided that I would give this table one star. But things went on as usual and I came to terms with the fact that this table can't stand for more than a year. Two years is quite a long time. I put down the table, looked at it, sat down - and then four stars rose from one star. Because back to the beginning of this review. (By the way, the total time it took me to assemble the table was 7 hours. I couldn't have done it without the cool rock playing on Spotify.)
