I had high hopes for this system and was very pleased with my first experience with tech support. Everything changed today with the second call it took me to fix the issues I was having with event replay. The system did not work properly. Obviously the compression level had to be changed to allow the system to display more than one camera at a time as my monitor couldn't display what the system was broadcasting. In response, the system sent an image from just one camera. That's one of the things the tech support folks told me. Neither the tech support person I spoke to nor her boss after I asked to speak to someone else were able to understand or convey the most basic video compression concepts. . You talked about two levels of compression that my system can run. The problem was that they were talking about a higher compression size rather than a file size and couldn't communicate outside of the language they were trained in, so we could understand what they were trying to say. They said that the higher compression size made the file larger. Well, that's not really how compression works. More compression results in smaller file size and lower image quality. The only reason to compress anything is to save space, but we do so at the cost of some degradation. We cannot get anything for free. When I tried to convince myself that I was dealing with competent people, they tried to add irrelevant factors like what kind of pictures I wanted to take, which doesn't matter at all. I kept trying to see if I could resolve the misunderstanding, hoping that maybe it was just a misunderstanding. However, what ended up happening is that instead of applying the concepts associated with the language they were using, they got frustrated with me. The supervisor told me that she spoke the same language as the network engineers and that I was the first to have a problem. Unfortunately, at this point she tried to tell me that she had no problem with the experts, rather than acknowledging the problem we had when trying to communicate what was going on. the main concepts we had to talk about and which I will bring back to the system. It is unfortunate that these supposed experts did not seem to understand how to convey the most basic concepts.
