The product consists of a single box with svideo plug and 3 RCA plug. The unit has a HDMI port for input and a micro-usb for power. There is a short usb cable to connect the box to the input and a longer usb cable and a power adapter. The unit has a single switch that toggles between NTSC and PAL. My bad. I learned the the HDMI port on most laptops are OUTPUT ONLY. You can't use this to send video TO your laptop. A few newer laptops can take an input from an HDMI port, but this is uncommon. You can only use this device to send video to a monitor or a TV.When connected to a monitor, the picture has a lot of artifacts around the edges. Aspect ratio control has to be done by whatever you connect it to.

I installed it on my older Sony TV (1st generation HDTV) and it worked fine. However the resolution was a bit diminished.

Took it out of the box, connected the included HDMI cable from the converter to my Roku 3, connected the converters RCA audio and the S-Video outputs to my old Toshiba flat screen tv (that does not have hdmi), and connected the included usb cable from the Roku 3 usb port to the converters mini-usb port. Turned on the TV and turned on the Roku3 and it all works as hoped for. Hopefully, it keeps working

Allowed us to continue using our functional ancient but decent cathode ray tube tv with the newer cable box that only has hdmi outputs. We’ll be upgrading the tv soon , but no rush with this inexpensive adapter

Hooked up an old Sony 8MM camcorder and simply works. Though, I was getting feed back when I connected the yellow cord in. I had no problems listening to the sound with just the red plug.

The converter works perfectly to connect a vintage S-VHS VCR with S-Video output to a modern Audio-Visual Receiver that prefers HDMI inputs. Everything simply plugged into the appropriate cables and ports and the converter provides a suitable digital signal via the HDMI. The picture quality is very good (far better with the S-Video connection than is possible with just the RCA-jack analog video line, which was the only other choice. I needed s-Video to HDMI, not HDMI to s-video, which is what this product is. It was my mistake. Otherwise fine. That's my feedback!

Great product, easy to install, delivery as promised. Used on old TV and the "S-video" input provided excellent picture but HDMI input is for wide screen so picture is slightly vertically exaggerated. TV too old to reset settings and input is streaming to four other HDTV so can't adjust settings on that part either. fyi only and not due to this product which is excellent.

A bit o f a nuisance is that the image displayed on the good ol' projection TV is not resized properly (i can see 95% o f the content the rest is off the screen). But, hey, who said you can have it all.Lorenzo

Hooked this up to an old Bose AV receiver so it could connect to a modern TV but it didn't work. Before returning I tried the converter on an old VCR and it worked fine(?) By accident, started messing around with the Bose settings and discovered it was set on progressive scan (so the TV couldn't interpret the signal.) Long story short, after changing the setting on the Bose, the picture worked fine. My advice, in case it doesn't work, check your AV or TV settings before returning.

Works excellently so far. Sound and video quality could be improved with higher end materials though it would be subtle and at this price unrealistic. I am concerned about durability. These are basic heads(RCA & S-video tips). But do far so good and ideal for my use which is a 8” Sharp pull down swiveling standard def LCD(made in Japan!).

I have an old (2001-ish) Sony 52" TV that still works but I only use it when I rarely have company over so I stopped paying the monthly fee to have a cable box for that TV. I wanted to stream from my laptop to the TV but the TV didn't have an HDMI cable. Plugged this in and it immediately worked - picture and sound were perfect!

Update: changing my review to 5 stars after fiddling with some other variables and I was able to discern a difference between the two outputs. This is an excellent and cost-effective method for getting an analog signal onto a CRT from a digital (hdmi) source. On top of that there is no latency, lag, or frame skipping occurring. I bought this to replace a similar convertor purchased from Best Buy that is no longer available. I use a Windows 10 PC that I use to stream TV throughtout my house. I route the PC HDMI signal to a 5-way splitter and then to several devices (VCR, Big Screen, RF modulator etc). This convertor replaces the unit that feeds my VCR. The converter was well packaged, and shipped quickly. Worked perfect connecting my old videocam to my smart TV via s-video to HDMI. Was surprised by the quality of the video. Would buy again.

I used this to connect a game console to my tv. My newer tv didn't have the s-video connection that it for some reason (since I bought it brand new) wouldn't work without. My biggest complaint is that I couldn't find an all male converter so I had to purchase a gender changing thing as well for the s-video connection.

This works perfectly for exactly what I needed. I hooked up my HDMI laptop to this device, then used the audio/video jack wires to plug into my older Panasonic projector. Super simple, great picture, works like a charm!

This works well in using newer laptops with older projectors. Installation is a bit challenging, but once connected, it works well.
