I used the red connectors. Spliced a 22 AWG wire and a 18 AWG wire. The 22 gauge was marine wire, the 18 gauge was low voltage 12V O2 free stranded wire. Crimp was satisfactory, but the heat shrink would not seal properly on the 22 gauge wire. The 18 gauge was tolerable. Used a commercial heat gun. Used my own heat shrink to ensure a waterproof connection. Not a bad product, but not a superior product. Was worth what I paid for. On!y bought a small pack, so if the rest don't work, no big deal. Personally, I definitely got burned while wearing this. The hat is cute and I love wearing it, but it does not offer substantial sun protection. Light shows through the weave and my bright red sunburned cheeks after wearing it for an hour outdoors confirm that it does not do much to block sunlight. If you are looking to protect your skin, look elsewhere. I was disappointed because the item is described as UPF 50 (which is very sun protective) but that did not match my experience when wearing it.See full review

I am typically between a 6.0 and 6.5, especially if a wider width is offered on 4" stems. However, I suspected these would be too narrow at my usual size, and without the wider option, I upped the size by 0.5 and I'm glad I did. When I received them at work, I was able to fit them on without much difficulty, in spite of having no stockings on and my feet being a bit swollen from the day, so I am confident I will be okay with stockings and that little extra shoe tree stretch. For the price, this is a decent addition to a costume. The adhesion, however, is less than optimal, and early during the party I wore it to, it was coming off. These are bright, beautiful little lanterns, and they would have been a sweet addition to my porch decor. However, two of the lanterns were busted to pieces in their original box, although the packing box was fine and intact. I had planned to return the product, but this is a lot of trouble for those of us who do not live in or near town. UPS pick-up would have been $7.99---not paying that!
