Last year I bought a refurbished basic desktop computer to use for internet access at home. It came with a basic wifi dongle that kept dropping the internet connection with no antennas. When I needed a reliable connection, I just ran an ethernet cable across the dining room floor to the kitchen where our router is located. But as a normal desktop computer, the network card was only 100 Mbit / s, far below the 1 GB of our router. I was tired of constantly cutting my internet connection, so I decided to try this key. It was a little difficult to plug into the back of a desktop in a row of USB ports. It's a bit wide to fit next to another USB device, and the Ethernet port is right there too. First plugged into the front port and it worked right away. Later I rearranged the USB device plug-ins on the back of the desktop. I did a speed test today and I'm more than happy with the result. Download speeds have more than doubled compared to Ethernet connection speeds, although the Wi-Fi location isn't ideal. It's on the back of the desktop and has to go through 2 separate stucco walls. Two thumbs up!
