Getting this was the highlight of my day! It's beautiful, looks strong and is easy to stuff. I keep old pillows so I used 5 or 6 to stuff them. First I leveled the sides and then filled the middle. I then sat on it a few times to mash it to make room for another pillow because I wanted mine to be firm. There was no smell that I found as mentioned in some of the reviews. Maybe there is a slight leather smell. Now the person (usually one of my kids) sitting in the center seat of my double daybed also has a footrest.
