I like this tray. It doesn't really smell, of course, if you're careful to remove cat poo when you see it. The pellets will (inevitably) be more or less ejected from the litter box depending on how vigorously your cat likes to dig in her poo, but they're large and not all gritty, gritty and dusty like a typical litter box. They are easy to pick up or sweep. You can't flush away cat poop with pellets stuck to it (I think that should apply to any litter unless you want a big plumbing bill at some point in the future). The scoop that comes with the litter box is handy for picking it up and throwing it away. The granules are combined with absorbent pads similar to the chux or flattened material used in hospitals such as disposable diapers. The pads are placed under the pellets on a pull-out shelf. They absorb cat urine and neutralize odors (to an extent) and you only need to change them once a week (more for a single cat if you have multiple cats sharing the same litter box). I have two of these toilets at home and I really like them. I would rather walk my two cats outside every time they need to go. But it's for the best IMO.
