I've been using it for a while, it says 18 AWG right on it and I've never had reason to believe it isn't. I recently used it on a higher amperage project and found that the voltage drop across the wire was more than three times that of 18 gauge wire. So I measured the cross section with a micrometer and found it to be 0.75mm, which is much less than the >1mm expected for 18 gauge stranded wire. Just to check I unwrapped what I had left and measured at 22 meters and also measured the resistance along the full length of both strands for a total of 44 meters at 3.0 ohms. To be generous, I've rounded up to 50m, which is 60 ohms per kilometer. This is the expected resistance of 22-23 gauge wire, meaning it contains less than 30% of the copper of the expected 18 gauge wire. Selling this wire as 18 gauge wire is blatant fraud and potentially dangerous real 18-gauge wire for anyone who expects it to be. I am VERY dissatisfied with this purchase and Amazon would have the right to stop selling this product and this manufacturer's products. Oh, and for those who prefer optics, I've also uploaded a product photo to show the comparison to the real 18 gauge. the cable.
