Review on VETRESKA Tall Cactus Cat Scratching Post with Natural Sisal Rope, Sturdy Vertical Cat Scratch for Adult Cats and Kittens by Mary Beauchene

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Okay, but for $150 buyers have a guilty conscience.

Probably more than $80-100. It looks very nice from a distance: bright green, beautiful shape. The internal structure is very strong and very durable. The base is wide and the PVC pipe it's made of holds up pretty well. The reason I say it's not worth the $150 I paid is that the jute (or whatever material) started falling apart pretty quickly. The jute is loose where the arms meet the body. It only took a few weeks to tug at it (it's a scratching post) and individual strands started to come out. Jute also rolls fairly quickly. It's very fuzzy after just a month. Comparing this item to other scratching posts he has used over the years there is no doubt that this item is looser, both in the quality of the jute and in its attachment to the underlying PVC pipe. If you want to remove the pink flowers (I didn't like them), they come off very easily. Just pull straight up and wiggle until they come loose - mine were stapled. If you buy this you might experience something: My cat was horrified at first. I was afraid he would never use it. The shape was frightening. I covered it with towels and gradually removed them, revealing the cactus shape more and more day by day. It took about two weeks and he got used to clinging to it and climbing on it like it was no big deal.

Pros
  • Happy at the moment
Cons
  • I won't say anything
