Review on πŸ”‹ Kaito V1 Voyager: Solar/Dynamo AM/FM/SW Emergency Radio with Cell Phone Charger and 3-LED Flashlight - Iron Gray by Aaron Campbell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice little unit, best in shortwave radios

I got one of these as a backup for power outages and camping. It's small and light and does pretty much anything. You can charge the batteries using the grip, any standard USB power source (e.g. wall charger, computer, car adapter, etc.) or the solar panel on top of the device. Charging requires a fairly powerful light, but there's a small green light on the front to let you know charging is working. The three LEDs at the end give off enough light to find something. The AM/FM/SW radio works well enough to receive news, weather, etc. It picks up a lot of noise, especially on AM, and the speaker is tinny, but it wasn't designed for listening to a symphony. The headphone jack can give you the best sound with some good headphones. With a standard USB output, it charges your phone, iPod, MP3 player and anything that charges via USB. All in all a very useful little gadget. I won't be using it every day, but if I'm anywhere outside of a working outlet it will be a life saver. It also runs on AAA batteries if you don't want to wind it up. For the price you can't beat it. By the way, after I bought one, I ordered one for my son who is a backpacker and goes to the mountains. with his wife and child when he can.
