I've searched the market for microphone stands that don't cost too much but are weighed down enough that I can carry a decent microphone with a shock absorber. Luckily I found this stand which is heavy enough to support the mic but not too heavy to move around the table if needed. The fact that it can also be raised is a nice plus if you have a low seating table. For those wondering about the size, the height ranges from 9 to 14 inches with an adjustable height lock. The base is about 6 inches in diameter and is made of cast iron with three rubber stops on the bottom. One of my favorite features of this stand is the two cable clips at the top and bottom of the stand that help with cable management, especially when using an XLR mic. The microphone mount is 3/8" and comes with a 5/8" adapter if you need one. All in all, this is a good mic stand if you're not too keen on a swing arm mount, or are just looking for an inexpensive weighted stand to get you started.
