When I received this I was amazed at how many people wrote multiple negative reviews about it. I bought the metal version and maybe that makes a difference. It is strong and holds the telescope's eyepiece firmly in place. Contrary to what one reviewer said, you can use this with a cellphone with a centered camera lens (I have one). This allows you to fully manipulate its position as needed. The easiest way to use this is to connect the device to the camera body with the side clips first, guide it to the lens position and make sure it doesn't cover the side buttons. Then move the eyepiece holder slide approximately so that it is flush with the camera lens, and then slightly tighten it in that position so that it does not move easily. Then insert the telescope lens into the lens carriage so that it snaps freely on the camera lens. (Both the camera lens and telescope lens are recessed. Even if you now start moving the lens holder carriage to center the lens, neither surface of the lens will be scratched.) Then turn on the camera and align it to the light. Keep moving the caret to center the glow, then tighten. Now insert an eyepiece of the same magnification into your telescope to find the target you want to photograph. When you have your target centered as best as possible, remove the eyepiece and insert your camera/telescope lens into the star diagonal. It'll be pretty well aligned already, with basically a little tweaking in position and focus. Now you can take a picture. I use a 3 second timer so after pressing the camera button the telescope has time to settle down from the vibration when the camera button is pressed. Another benefit of this attachment is that your camera is directly above the eyepiece, close enough to easily see the object even when the lens has a short eye relief, such as a 3D lens. B. 6 mm or less. The image now comes through the phone's camera screen, so everyone can see the target at the same time without each person having to press their eye hard against the eyepiece.
