Drops the temperature like crazy!

My i7 7700k used to get hot up to 100 degrees. I figured it was my H100i V2 that was broken or failed so I bought a Noctua NH-D15 but still saw spikes reaching 100C. Crazy pace. I recently upgraded my CPU from a gold i5 7600k that could run at 4.8GHz all day and rarely went above 65C, so I figured I had a not-so-gold CPU. I have decided that as a final step before getting back to my 7600k I will replace the IHS linkage with liquid metal. It was a decision I will never regret. As you can see from my screenshot, the maximum temperature after the Furmark CPU heater starts is 48°C and when idle it is 29°C. That's the real deal. A few tips on how to use it correctly. * Get the D8rbauer Delidding tool, worth investing in this process. * A swab is enough, literally smaller than a grain of rice, maybe half a grain is all you need. This tube looks like it could handle 20 IHS heat cycles, if not more. * Spread it very thinly and evenly, if it looks like a puddle of metal you have too much, it should look like foil. * Just scrape off the silicone from the IHS, don't mess with the silicone on the board, you will use this silicone to stick the IHS on the CPU. * Make sure it is only connected to the CPU and IHS where it contacts the CPU. You have to do both sides. That's all. I did this with my gold i5 7600k and it worked better too. This is a fantastic product that spreads really well with the black cotton swabs provided and works better than expected. I've used arctic silver for IHS as a heatsink interconnect, I wouldn't recommend using it without removal simply because if you ever have to remove a heatsink cleaning it can be dangerous for internal components if some of that material slips onto the MB .
