You get what you pay for

I didn't have high hopes when I ordered due to the low price but decided to give it a try. On the plus side, this item arrived earlier than expected. When I first looked at it, I was very excited to see that the handle is made of a very good type of wood. The finish is very smooth and overall it's a pretty good weight. This is where the quality starts to drop a bit. The collar looks like it was assembled very quickly. The piece of metal tilts to the left when held upright, and there is a thick bead of dried glue on the collar. The blade has a mark showing its size, which is usually very helpful. Not in this case though, as mine is marked #5, it's actually #1. In my opinion, the tip is the most important part, so I was disappointed to see that very little effort went into making this tool. It's cut at an angle so the beveled part leaves a crooked finish on the leather edges and to top it off, straight out of the box it was very dull, scratched and dirty (repackaged return maybe?). All in all, I would have gladly paid a little more and gotten something better. I would return it but the hassle of getting a refund for something bought in China just isn't worth the hassle. Okay, I think I'll save up for palosanto.
