Review on Equivalent White 2700K Dimmable Single by Meghan Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cool lightbulb! The color is perfect but it catches my stick too much. Just read it, you will understand.

I waited a long time (years) before I pressed the trigger on low-wattage bulbs. I tried a few CFL bulbs which I hated waiting for them to warm up, not dimming and just bad light color. Now I have these CREE lightbulbs and they are the answer. You will literally have a hard time distinguishing them from the incandescent bulbs they replaced. YUP! I've been waiting for this for years. You look great. I replaced 6 glasses in the kitchen and the ONLY difference is that they are a little lighter than the original. I mean a little lighter. My old bulbs were 2700K and these are supposed to be 2800K which sounds right. Color was my main concern and I'm ready to do about 20 more of these colors for the whole house. I'll only let her drive for a few months to solve the problems. DIMMABLE, Yes they are dimmable but not as powerful as incandescent bulbs. I tested dimming in another room using a Lutron Maestro incandescent dimmer. One with 7 green LEDs on the side to indicate brightness settings. I just swapped two bulbs and still had the old bulb in parallel. These bulbs dimmed well and looked good, but certainly wouldn't match the level of theatrical lighting. My kitchen doesn't have a dimmer so I'll probably leave an old lightbulb on when I finally put it in my room to get the dimmer working properly. My dimmers cost around €90 in the living room alone because they had 3 switch settings (4 positions). ONE NEGATIVE: These bulbs stick to the glass. It's great on your stairs if you screw them in BUT I use a lamp post in my 20ft living room. I have a yellow extension cord that you can find in big stores. It held my springy metal light bulbs so well that when I tried it in the kitchen I could NOT get rid of the new bulb. Pulling down will either tear the lamp or pull the built in lamp socket out of the trim ring from the glass. And so he did, pulling the trim ring off the ceiling. My kitchen is 10 feet long so finding a ladder to change the lights was easy. In the living room I have no idea what I'm going to do. I tried putting a paper towel in the bulb holder to prevent the bulb from sticking to it, the paper towel got stuck to the bulb. I put water on the bulb and it becomes hydrophobic (beads of water). Grip will be an issue. I can use the big suction nozzle, but I've had trouble with this thing in the past and dropped lightbulbs from 20 feet. In the photos they are installed, but one of them is still an old lightbulb. It's hard to say which one, so I'll show it in a photo. That's what I like about lightbulbs, they "look" like what I'm used to, they just save energy, produce less heat and are meant to last a long time.

Pros
  • 25,000 hours of beautiful, warm, energy-saving light - compared to 1,000 hours from a traditional incandescent bulb
Cons
  • Crumpled
