For the price this is a great product. It also doesn't require batteries, which is very good. The Apple Pencil has a very short battery life. It is necessary to get used to the fact that the top of this product is a small flat "plate". But once you get over that, everything works fine. It doesn't do what the Apple Pencil does, but for the price it's very good. A minor complaint is that the magnetic storage lid feels a bit loose and wobbly.
