Broken after about a year. Canon needs to lower its standards because my son's old silver cannon can at least still kick in when he fiddles with the lens servos. This one didn't even extend the lens before posting a "lens error" and to my knowledge it never mishandled it. Especially since he was very upset because he broke the lens servos on his silver camera, which he now has to use. We bought a Fuji to replace this. Edit: Son, I have to agree with that. When I got this camera I was very happy that it had a resolution of 16 megapixels (which felt like 4k to me) and a 6x zoom. Unfortunately, this camera has a major problem with the optical zoom. I had an old Powershot that I used to do push ups on with a lens and everything was fine. For some reason it stopped opening and never came back to life. That upset me greatly. So if you are planning to buy this for your 7-12 year old kid, don't. I think I had it for about 3 weeks before it stopped working.
