This marble dock magnet set works well with a similar magnet set we have but not a solid block magnet set (see image). The squares for this are about the same size and have the same arrangement of magnets (one magnet in the middle). The set of solid block magnets we have has two magnets on each side that are off center so they don't line up with this set. However, the presence of additional parts is not essential. The included hoses only enter these parts through holes not found in other kits. It comes with a booklet showing many different project ideas but sometimes they can be a little tricky as they only offer one view/angle. The parts also fit really tight together when first used, so I'd suggest helping with disassembly to avoid damaging parts. They seem to get weaker with use. It's not entirely obvious either, but the 4 transparent sticks are different from the other 4. It would probably be better if they made them in different colors. All in all this is a fun set and not too difficult to put together.
