This mount has served its purpose. It had to be rebuilt to accommodate a wireless Lorex camera using the same brand of solar panels. Holes had to be drilled on the surface to adjust the spacing between the holes. With that in mind, it wouldn't matter if the surface wasn't pre-cut. An upgrade was also carried out here. I also had to put a block of wood behind it for the screws (included with my cameras) to screw in. However, I believe that if you had the correct metal bolts with a nut, you wouldn't need a backing. Overall, I'm just glad I was able to mount the camera on a 2.5ft diameter pole. And that it looks beautiful. There will be a photo soon.
